It was exciting to find a quality vintage table that just needed to be refinished. I knew that I wanted to paint it so the preparation of the old mahogany wood was important to prevent bleed through. To block any bleed through I applied a primer coat of clear shellac. Because this was a vintage piece and I wanted it to show that it had been used, I added some light wear details to the finish. To complete the look I used clear wax to give the finish a soft, subtle sheen.
