This project is a simple repaint and stain that will give this buffet a classy and current style. It is a perfect piece for this update as its smaller size is very versatile in todays decorating.

Prep work for this included washing with TSP and scuff sanding with 220 grit before painting with General Finishes Alabaster Milk paint. If I do this again I will prime with BIN first to help with coverage over such a dark color.

The edges and corners were lightly sanded to show some wear marks and to highlight details. For added interest I glazed over the alabaster with a 3 parts glaze medium to 1 part black paint.

To update the top I lightly sanded using 320 grit and then stained over the original dark brown finish with GF Gray Gel Stain. For this process I use a foam brush to apply the gel stain and a natural bristle paint brush to remove as much stain a needed to achieve the look I want. To match the top I also did the same grey finish on the feet of the buffet.

To add extra durability to the piece I clear coated the cabinet with two coats of GF High Performance Satin and three coats to the top surface.
