To make this transformation to a Country Cottage style only required a little paint and some stain. The base is painted with Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint, sealed with clear wax and highlighted with AS dark wax. The top had a dramatic change using General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel stain. I applied the gel stain with a brush, covering completely, then used a natural bristle dry brush to remove enough stain to achieve the desired color. Allow the stain to dry completely, 48 hours is best. Then top coat with Varathane Poly Satin.
