This old dresser came to me in fair condition, needing minimal repairs, although it had been completely painted a gloss black. After sanding most of the black paint off I could see a layer of brown and a layer of cream paint underneath so it was a good candidate for repainting. My plan was to paint it a golden yellow with an aged and weathered look and apply a ‘Farm’ transfer over the drawer fronts. After two coats of paint, a layer of brown glaze, and one coat of satin poly it was ready for the transfer. I think the layered brush technique that I used left the surface with a slight texture that made it harder for the transfer to stick. No joke, it took a LOT of rubbing to apply transfer! I applied a second coat of poly over the transfer to seal and protect it.
