From the first time I saw this piece I knew there was a real beauty hidden underneath the finish that age had darkened to almost black. Time had taken its toll, with missing pieces of veneer and water damage on the top. Several of the drawer bottoms and drawer runners were cracked or broken and needed to be replaced. Missing or broken hardware was replaced with Victorian reproduction knobs and handles. With repairs made and a new finish this chest is once again beautiful and usable.
