Hi, I’m Cheryl, welcome to my website. You could say, my roots are in California, but I’ve been at home in the mountains of Colorado for the past 30 years.
For many years now I have had a passion for furniture restoration and refinishing. This journey began when I was 16 and my mom let me refinish her old sewing machine cabinet. After beginning married life I started refinishing or repurposing our own furniture out of necessity and helping others to solve furniture problems on the cheap.
We bought our first home in the expensive Southern California housing market of the late 1970’s and quickly realized that if we were going to make improvements on the home we would need to learn DIY skills. And yes, way back then I would often bring home an ugly piece of furniture with the vision to make it beautiful again.
From the beginning Hubby and I shared a love for dogs and raised bed gardening. Because of these interests our home choices through the years have always allowed space for both hobbies. This led us to build a home on 2½ acres of undeveloped land, and several more moves challenged our DIY skills to finish out two full basements, four kitchen remodels and many bathroom renovations. When I hear that something can’t be done or that it’s too expensive, I try to find a way to do it. I hope this is our forever home but I doubt it, as there is always a dream to explore the ‘what could be’.
All of these experiences have required me to learn new skills and be creative with refinishing and repurposing quality furniture to fit new situations. Recently jobs from friends asking for advice and help with furniture restorations have kept me busy, and it seemed I was called to start a business refinishing, restoring, and repairing furniture. Hopefully this will enable me to serve a wider customer base that sees the value of decorating with quality used furniture.
All that to say, you are now looking at the beginnings of my furniture business with this website. (Truly I would rather enjoy anything DIY over sitting at my computer and designing a website!) So you will be getting to know me as I learn web design and explore the fun and exciting challenges a piece of furniture brings.
And now, where did I put my paint brush?
